New TV show about how the Atlanta police do it!

Angelina Cortez (actress), Hattie Lemon (Co-Creator), and Chris Durant (actor) on set
ON the Camera: Carl Millender

"Atlanta Investigations: HD" (the HD stands for homicide division), is coming to air on Dish networks, Colours Network July 3rd! The show's focus is on real unresolved murders in Atlanta. YET it will not be broadcast in Atlanta. HUH?! Well not yet. We know that will HAVE to change cuz that would just be crazy.

What's exciting about this show is that it is the first TV show drama filled in Atlanta with Atlanta in the title. We've had NYPD Blue, Law and Order, CSI, and of course The Wire, so having a southern based show gives adds a new flavor to police drama. Mmmmm smells like waffles and fried chiken. And I like, i like! Meeting the cast, I have to say viewers have something to look forward to. They are all wonderful and devoted. I had a chance to interview and take pictures of the currently unpaid actors (they are troopers, they will not be paid until the show airs!) when they did a promo back in the earlier part of this year. I'm so enthused for them. Their hard work and determination has paid off as they've worked their backs off to get recognition and a spot nationally on network television.

Hats off to Hattie Lemon and Carl Millender, the shows creators, director and producing team who have fought for the dream. Currently the shows budget is $100,000 an episode, pennies...almost unthinkable in the industry, when other like television episodes have million plus dollar budgets, however that hasn't discouraged the AI team to make lemonade out of lemons. Right Hattie. (wink!).

Get
the full story here from Access Atlanta.

Congrats to the team!
And thanks to Leighala J Management & Entertainment (PR & Marketing for the show) for the great news! I may go on set one day to give yall a lil taste of what to further expect from this new leading drama!

New York's HOT 97 cans big mouth Miss Jones!

I have to be honest. I hate big mouths. I mean people that always talk trash about other people as if they don't have their own damned dirt underneath their fingernails. Still i wish no drama on anyone. But apparently someone has on Miss Jones of HOT 97 in New York. Eyyyyyyyeah. She has been replaced by the lovable, Big Boy because he has better relationships with artists and is good entertainment according to HOT 97’s Program Director, Ebro Darden.
I heard that Jones has a new gig on some AM Philly show. So....good luck. Hey this may be a blessing in disguise for her. Who knows. Oh well...

Ruben Studdard gets married yall!

Surata and Ruben making it legal!

Ex Idol, Studdard and Surata Zuri McCants made it official this past Saturday as they jumped the broom in an Atlanta ceremony. Word is the two met at a Walmart when he was signing CD's as she shopped. I don't know what happened from there but the end result is marriage! Awwww shucks. Aint they cute?! He just seems like such a kind man so i'm happy for them. Ol girl better take care of him! There may have little to worry about since Rube was famously dropped from his record label earlier this year for lack of sales so it mustn't be the money she is after. Apparently Zuri, mother of one, has been around the block with a few different football players and industry power players BUT anyone can change and settle down with the RIGHT guy. She probably saw that all the money and good looks in the world do not mean happiness or love. Real love can still exist these days right?? Riiiiiiiiiight! Naw but i predict they will last. God bless true love.

See some video footage of the wedding here courtesy of myfoxal.com.

Keith Sweat still croonin'...

Ya boy, pimped out, chillin'. And doing it well. I admit he's still got IT.
He's got his drink but no two step. Awwwww sad.
A fan and Keith. This girl was uber excited!

I did go to his album listening party held at The Geisha House in Atlanta's Atlantic Station, but i didn't even tell yall cuz i was so disappointed (plus i wasn't really covering the event like THAT). I was mad as hades at the way the label ran thangs up in that piece! Yeah yeah yeah i know Sweat is a legend and all but i aint SWEATING no artist that is not in my top five (how you doin' TMobile) like that! Those jerks were acting like taking a picture of him came with a price. Well price this %@%$&%#@!!! Oops okay girl, stick to the news.

So while the new album, "Just Me", sounds good, it's pretty much the same as the old stuff. He does have a cool track with female music don, Keisha Cole called, "Love you Better", that is promising as well as the released, "Suga Suga Suga". He also has a greatest hits album, "Make you Sweat", that they were pushing at the event, still of course on sale with hits like, "I Want her", "Why me", and "Nobody" (my FAVE!!). Get more info on his new album and his greatest hits album which i'd buy more so than the new one, on
his myspace page. So there it is...better late than never.

Bottom line:
Keith Sweat is still THE man. But THE man hasn't changed. But when you have the history that he does...do you have to?

New Music Video: Block Entertainment's JC's "Nobody gotta know" feat. Gorilla Zoe.

JC (right)
Chingy looks tasty
Damn that Richy Rich...but glad to see he's drinking a coke and not snorting it...
A dress made for a Princess
College Hill Atlanta fame (both kids starred in the video)
Shooting a scene (we also got Ashley from College Hill straight ahead)
Crystal (in the red from: Flava of Love, Charm School Girls) was the female love lead in the video. she's a cool chick, so far.

Video above. "Nobody gotta know" JC feat. Gorilla Zoe.

And here's a little bit of what i filmed at the actual shoot. It's just a minute. Maybe I'll shoot and direct videos one day! ;)

I got to be on this video set (my 1st one yall so be happy for me!) to take pictures and check out the scene during the shooting. Director Devin Hampton was a MAD MAN on the set but he got the job done!

JC has a nice voice and he's down to earth so i hear from his friends. But i also had the chance to discover this myself
when i spoke to him at his first Bday Bash (Hot 107.9 radio) appearance less than a week ago (listen here about his new album and Bday Bash)! He's not Hollywood at all and i hope it stays that way but who the hell knows. In this business many things come and go. Here is to JC and a little staying power if you will!

Is this the face of Mr.Nice Guy?

This has been all over the web (like TMZ who got the first scoop) and on TV too. This is the press release i got from Marlon's PR:

END

Here are copies of the legal docs send to Marlon. Ouch!

Hmmmm. Well you know that I had a chance to interview Campbell earlier this year about his new movie, "Oblivious", and his involvement in Blaque's new reality show, "Black in the House", set to air this Summer. When I asked him about the PRESENT relationship with his famous cousin Perry he was pretty mum and only said, "We are not as close as we should be.". From there I knew but didn't pry. I must say however that he didn't pretend that Perry was involved in his current projects either, he was very legit. Well still, the proverbial ish finally hit the jagged fan and the two are certainly not kissing cousins. So what's up with Tyler Perry anyway? Yes if Marlon didn't ask to use Tyler's name he should have BUT still why is Tyler so mad at his family? He's a big 'ol Christian so what is going on behind the surface that put the man so up in arms?! Did he have to go that far? We'll find out why. More on the story as it unfolds!

Hot 107.9 holds it's annual birthday bash every summer highlighting some of the industry's most celebrated artists and performers at the time. This was my 1st birthday bash and one word to describe the festivities is...CRAZY. There was some good, and some not so good. But the worst part of the night was honestly self inflicted, my feet hurt like bees made a nest in my toes (stupid cute shoes!), and me losing my car for almost 40 minutes once i left the actual show did not help! It was a bit of a media circus at the Phillips Arena (event held) but once i snuck backstage it worked out a little better for me, so i'm not complaining.
Other attendees were:
Kanye West (i hate that his folks pretend he is the second coming of The Christ. He's the BOMB but c'mon people. We all use the restroom the same way.)
The Game
Trina
The Grand Hustle Fam (Lil Duval, Big Kuntry, Hannah Kang, etc. you know they roll deep.)
Plies
Best performance:
Jeezy. He took OVER the stage this year. No doubt.
Game is a close second as we got to see him bring some kids on the stage. So maybe he's not always a heartless bastard yall.
Who i would have loved to see:
50 (that boy survives on beef alone!)
Weezy (Duh!)
Keisha Cole (cuz "i wanna be the one in your heart that you know is sent from Heaven...", she's a cool chick.)
Thank you so much to Tahira Wright from Branded PR for allowing me to cover this event.
And thanks to Gyant from SOHH Atlanta for looking out for me.
:)
Ciao!

Osi Umenyiora's celbrity charity weekend (www.strike4thecure.com)

The man of the hour, Osi Umenyoria (party held at the W Hotel downtown Atlanta)
Jason Allen and Takeo Spikes (far right) please don't ask me everyone elses' name. But I promise I am brushing up on my sports knowledge like a good lil girlie should!
Vernon Jones, Osi, and Charles Mathis (important men of Atlanta)

Pretty ladies dressed up for the Friday night soiree
Hannah Kang (Grand Hustle manager, far right) and her friends
Katena Keno (right) and friends
Osi's younger brother and Nicole Garner (PR Guru!) at 300 Atlanta
Striking for the cure and looking niiiiiiiiiice doing it
Jason Allen
Shane (Minnesota Vikings)

Taking time out from bowling to talk to To ESPN

Osi Umenyiora (New York Giants #72) took over the city of Atlanta last weekend in honor of his annual celebrity charity weekend for Strike 4 a Cure. Umenyiora started off the festivities on Thursday afternoon when he spoke to the youth at Carver High School about being hard workers, AIDS awareness and being protected. I hear he had the kids rapt attention.
The party portion started Friday evening which presented the exclusive black tie affair held at the W Hotel in downtown Atlanta (who knew there was a W in downtown too?! Oh oh i see, all of yall knew...so i'm the only one who didn't know you say? oh aight...). The affair was welcoming with an open bar, an appearance by Atlanta's premier entertainment attorney, Charles Mathis, Dekalb County CEO, Vernon Jones (quite the social magnet for the ladies), Hannah Kang of Grand Hustle (who received her own award and honor), Takeo Spikes, Jason Allen, and Osi Umenyiora himself who gallantly mingled with his honored guests and NFL friends. Basically the crowd was scattered with different football players in a different type of uniform for the evening, a suit and tie. The evening ended with a night of dancing at Verve Lounge. I couldn't hang yall so I bounced. I'm not feeling the club vibe too much these days...besides I was at Studio 72 two weekends in a row...so naw i'm good. But I know it was good times.
Saturday afternoon was incredibly fun as Osi and his friends took over the private suite at 300 Atlanta's bowling alley. The catered event almost felt like a tiny club with all the tight music videos booming on the big screens as men and women competed for bragging rights and more importantly were Striking for a Cure, to raise money for the charity. And you already know they went to the club again that night right? Yup this is Atlanta, duh. So off to Club Esso's on memorial drive they partied, finishing it all off on Sunday night at my favorite, The Velvet Room.

Osi's second annual Strike 4 a Cure event raised over $40,000 with the proceeds going to the charity's focus on HIV/AIDS and Alzheimer's research, outreach and education. Osi is a gentleman who is rather low key, doesn't crave too much attention outside of the field, and is no nonsense. Good look Osi, we are very proud of your work and dedication. To learn more please go to http://www.strike4acure.com/.

Thanks to the Garner Circle PR for the invite, you did such a great job and I'm so proud of your success! And Daniel it was such a pleasure to finally meet you, your rock. Also to Katena Keno who had her infamous clipboard in hand at Saturday's bowling event because she was about business! I appreciate how she always takes good care of us media. So maybe we are not mere peons right? LOL!

I will post the video of some of the bowling night from Saturday with a brief word from Osi and the drive for his charity tomorrow.

Take a shower with Luda!

Ludacris is using his celebrity to change the world. His foundation is doing great, he has involved himself in aids research and now he's focused on conserving water for the environment.

From Sandra Rose:
Tommy Lee and Ludacris (uhmmm maybe they are best buds now since they've been in several pics together over the last week!) invited fellow minded environmentalists to explore water conservation in Las Vegas by staging a communal shower. As part of the new Planet Green series, BATTLEGROUND EARTH, Tommy Lee and Ludacris travel across the country to raise awareness about the essentials of being eco-friendly. They are trying to set the Guinness World Record for the ‘Worlds Largest Group Shower’ in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Tommy Lee, Ludacris and their “eco-rages”, invited hundreds to shower with a friend and save water. END

Okay so as for me and my household...no. This is not the business. I am not taking showers wit a chick or a random dude for some group orgy type of dirty deal. And I want to be able to get water contact on my skin too or else i won't be clean and we'll end up being in the shower longer which defeats the purpose. BUT i can agree to shorter showers AND think that Luda is doing a great job at using his talents for the betterment of the planet and mankind.

p.s. doesn't tommy lee look like a geeked up lil kid in this pic (he's probably flippin' out about his shower wit a bunch of random chicks...dang tommy chill out son). LOL!
p.p.s. and who all thinks that these people in this picture actually care more about taking a shower with a celeb (luda and tommy) then the damn planet? i'm just sayin' shawt...

The Marijuana baby epidemic

So i flip back from V-103 and 102.5 in the mornings. I don't care for the music I just want to hear the talk. The two stations are a mixture of laughter, politics, and serious issues/conversations (Gotta love that Strawberry Letter Steve Harvey!). Anyway a couple of days this week Frank Ski and Wanda (V-103) hit on the issue of youth verses marijuana smoking. I knew it was a widely accepted issue but honestly i didn't know it was such a detrimental thing never being a pot smoker myself. A mother called into the show hysterical because her twin sons were suffering from this big brown weed that was taking over the minds of her children. Now i know that rollin' a blunt may not harm everyone however i think this report is worth taking a look at. Also they played a Lil Wayne song from his new album, The Carter III about drug uses ups and then the "after the high" decline so low that you feel like, "Dying". Hmmmm. Pretty chilling. Any thoughts?

Depressed Teens Using Marijuana, Other Drugs to Relieve Symptoms:

Although marijuana use among teens has dropped by 25 percent since 2001, more teens use marijuana than all other illicit drugs combined. The new report, "Teen Marijuana Use Worsens Depression: An Analysis of Recent Data Shows 'Self-Medicating' Could Actually Make Things Worse," shows the following:

*Teens who smoke marijuana at least once a month are three times more likely to have suicidal thoughts than non-users;
*Using marijuana can cause depression and other mental illnesses;
*The percentage of depressed teens is equal to the percentage of depressed adults, but depressed teens are more likely than depressed adults to use marijuana and other illicit drugs;
*Teen girls who use marijuana daily are more likely to develop depression than girls who do not use marijuana;
*Depressed teens are also more likely than non-depressed teens to engage in other risky behaviors such as daily cigarette use and heavy alcohol use.

I am glad it's being talked about in the news and popular radio. Now go talk to your kids, and siblings please.
