So i got prepared for MLK day's Hosea Feed the Homeless to do media BUT...

I was pretty excited ya know. I had yet to be part of any of the Hosea Feed the Homeless events in Atlanta since i'd been a resident for several years. But i'd always wanted to. I did. I would call and contact but it just didn't seem to pan out anytime. So this year as poppa Martin Luther King's birthday rolled around i got a call from the wonderful Leighala Jiminez (PR/artist management) to do media coverage of the event that takes place yearly on Turner Field. I thought at first very selfishly...hmmm i want to sleep. Just being honest. Great thing is that good prevailed over evil (selfish) and i became enthused about participating in my first HFH event.

So on Monday i show up to the event right, i am pumped. I got to the media table and guess what? Oh press coverage has ended early. GASP, WHAT?! So i'm there, i drove, i've got camera and recorder in hand. What's a girl to do? Well i love lemons and lemonade so i made the best of it and decided to stay and see what else could be done. I got to serve! YIPPIE! I think maybe at first they were like, wait you're media do you really wanna? But to be honest i much more wanted to be with the people (at this event) in need then the media who can at times be pushy and shovey.

I'm not here to pat myself on the back, PLLEEEEEEEEASE, i have a long way to go in my servitude. I am nowhere near Jesus' example which is the ultimate so i will forever keep my mouth on mute on my deeds or how nice they were, seriously. However i wanted to write this to share because it was a fabulous experience. I saw so many men and women, families, yes children who just wanted something to eat. I fret about my car, and shopping for a new place to live, gotta have that guess shirt, and a super meals at a funky restaurants. But the crowd at Turner were just happy to get a little turkey (extra gravy please!) and VERY grateful! If you didn't know Hosea puts on several annual events for the homeless during big holidays. Not only do the people in attendance get to eat but they also are provided with showers, hair cuts/perms, medical attention, back massages (YES yall!), AND Marta cards? How's that! Some even took food with them. Gosh! I was just happy to be there and to see everyone smiling. It made my day even if for one day i knew they would be better.

Sometimes we get so used to our sponsors that we barely blink as they continue to give (no matter the financial climate) but i want to let them know that we notice and i'm grateful on the behalf of those that benefited. Also to the volunteers...yall did it! I spoke to a lady who was there helping from 9 am till after 4 pm, on her feet, working quickly and taking loud orders the whole time. Those are the hearts that move this city. A black president can't do it all, but a city can, a nation can. I pray in these coming months we continue to work together and take responsibility for each other. We can make the world a better place, if even in your community alone.

Well now he's taking his Hollywood hat and using it to better one of the most influential group of people in our midst; the single moms. Yes the internet. "Diary of a Single Mom" is a web tv show with all the fixing of normal tv but available at any time on the web.

I went to New Birth Missionary Baptist Church (Bishop Eddie Long) last night not knowing what the expect and came out of there excited about Monica Calhoun's incredible acting (GREAT JOB!) and the future of web tv! The 12 (so you can watch it even on a work break) minute per episode series launches on January 29th on www.Pic.TV. PIC founded by Ray Ramsey, allows webshows to air on their network as would a regular tv show. Come on now technology! Anyway thus far Townsend and crew have amassed 8 episodes, the 1st 4 you will be able to see on the date above. So check it out. Single mom or not you will LEARN and be inspired (unless you are "Heartless" as Kanye vocodes)!

Red carpet pictures of, 'What Happens In Vegas' - World Premiere at Mann Village Theater a few days ago. Hmmm, seems like a funny movie. Other celebs that came in attendance and support were: Eva Longoria-Parker, Brooke Burns, Dennis Farina, and the nutty Bai Ling wearing some, witches brew, spiderella, medieval maven's no-no, i need attention contraption. I had to put her picture up here too, cuz her choice of clothing puts her on Miesha's "The World's Worst Whacked Out Dressed" list. She weirds me out a little. I really wish she'd be in a new super movie to occupy her time with. I think i'll start a world wide rally called, "Put Bai Ling to good use...please!" Emphasis on the, "Please". But, real talk, Ling knows what's she's doing (hehee...i just said, "Ling".). Sometimes bad attention is better than no attention to some. Oh shame of shames. :(

It was great to see Diaz out and about after last months sad death of her father. She missed a previous marketing event for the movie that Ashton Kutcher (other star of the film) appeared at alone because of Diaz' mental break-down when her father passed. Diaz was very close to her daddy and of course took his departure terribly hard. She was joined by exes, Justin Timberlake, and John Mayer (reportedly dating Jennifer Anniston, they have been cuddling often together in Hollywood where Anniston is filming a new movie...hmmm maybe she could recruit Bai Ling as a co-star...) at her pops funeral. That shows that her past boy toys really care about her and that they were not just lovers, but real friends. Awesome.

Okay here comes a message about love and with my own failures, i've had some victories and i can speak on this. so hear me out!:
All ended relationships don't have to end on bad terms. It depends on the circumstances of the break-up, how it was handled, honesty, chillin' on the over emotional theatrics, and the friendship. So look he left you, saying he needed new excitement, after you stood by his side when he was dead broke and grouchy for 5 years (which personally is rather long to be a girlfriend anyway...okay okay that part is my opinion, to each his/her own baby) but that doesn't mean you need to slash his tires honey! Yeah she was steppin' around behind your back with your step brother who is a dead ringer for Omarion but you don't have to go all Jerry Springer on her or put bleach in her coffee! No. Well sometimes a little (harmless though people) release is good BUT Killing, yes that part is bad. Overall have class, even if they suck, talk about your feelings, and try to move forward, glad to be free. Hard times don't last forever darling.

Yes, a break-up hurts and can break you down, however don't let it steal your flame for too long. If someone is not for you (thinks they don't want you, doesn't respect you, leaves you out to dry, is a chronic cheater, etc.) then hell, let them goooooooooo. Uh bye. Please! Ugggh! Don't you want the right one, not the one keeping the spot warm or wasting YOUR time? Holding onto the wrong one, can cause much misery later and jack up that self-esteem. It's better to cry now and get it out of your system then to be crying in your old age cuz JR. is still doing you dirt! Hello! Let it be. Don't worry, God remembers you and HE is LOVE! True love is worth the wait. You don't have to beg or be lonely newly single either. Fill your life with fun activities, great friends, and helping others. I didn't always see this, these are things I've learned over the years through experience and God, but I see it now and am blessed by it.

If you are not right inside yourself to be a good mate then it aint gonna be good times in a relationship anyway. Are you selfish, mean, a liar, sneaky, spoiled to the point of being unbearable, just plain ol foul, talk your mate down, then oooh uhhn uhhn boo boo, naw. Hey, I myself was a jerk to men in the past. Change is good and you can do it! So, work on you, Live your Life Like it's GOLDEN (Jill Scott) and see what happens later. When a great person (human preferably, aliens or imaginary partners are not real people therefor don't count) comes along and you are ready to give your time away to that someone else again remember that love is not perfect by any means and that he or she that will not be either. Still expect to be treated well and have honesty in that union. A little fun also goes a long way. Value yourself, and in turn value that person right back!!! You often get what you give, and what you allow yourself to be mastered by (in thought or deed) will become your reality. Good or bad. Okay that's my love lesson for the day dears.

Toni Braxton hospitalized in Las Vegas

The HOT mega grammy winning singing super star, Toni Braxton (she performs these days at the Flamingo hotel/casino) was hospitalized in Las Vegas yesterday due to chest pains. That scared me. A man at my kickboxing gym in good health just went through that and didn't make it. I hope that Toni's story has a different outcome. She is still young, active in her career and very much in shape.

You know this news got me to thinking. I feel like God has been trying to teach me something. And it is a message about how to really live life to please and obey Him by His standards not the watered down, selfish, angry, and excuse filled model that many choose to take part in today. I've been listening to different stories about life and how it is not known how or when or why it ends when it does but i do know this: it is not promised that the life given to us will be long. I pray for Toni and her family now. And I pray for everyone here that they will not take their lives for granted. Strive towards being grateful, remembering what is REALLY important in this life (non material) and treating others with love and respect. I want a heart to obey God. And Lord please help me to work on it with faith daily. Amen.

It was a mini celeb fest. You can count on getting folks to come out to church on Easter Sunday (15,000++ people strong at the Dome!). Anyway i ain't here to hate on the sometimers (i got my own ishness to work on...)but to post a pic or two of Tip and the fam from Easter. It seems as though the southern "king of the south" expected to be surrounded by the paparazzo (he knows he's newsworthy) so allowed a few photo opps (rather gracious...but if he didn't allow then they may have just taken anyway right...?!) during his time at church. He even got up and spoke, his message being on aids and "getting it right". I really like dude and am pulling for him and his family. Tiny is still tiny even though she is six months preggers! I tell ya now that chick is ride or die for real shawt. Do Tameka right Cliff.

The 1st African American governor of New York: David Paterson!

I just want to give a happy shout to the 1st African American governor of New York: David Paterson! Not only is he the 1st black governor of New York but he's the 8th ever black governor in American history! Mr. Paterson seems to be a pleasant and well received man whose time has just come. I am praying he does well. It means so much not only for New York but our country. Who would have imagined that our country would get to a place that blacks are considered able to lead by the general population. I do not say this to be negative but to be real. Racism took captive the mind of many and turned them into fools to base a humans rights, acceptance, worth and leadership abilities off of the pigmentation of skin. And of which the beholder has none control over such birth sets determined by God Himself. David Paterson for sure is fallible because he is just a man, but i'm glad he is a black man!

This victory comes after the shocking scandals of prostitution and misuse of funds lead by former New York governor Eliot Spitzer. And I am not making this a black and white thing because any man or woman has and can mess up. But I'm saying that God has a way of working things out however. The big apple suffered momentarily over the discovery and demise of Spitzer and his dark secrets, Spitzer resigned and in came David Patterson, the legally blind new governor who ran for Lt. Governor two years previous. Now how is that for God using one with "imperfections" and obstacles to run things! 1 Corinthians 1:26-29. Go God!

Juanita Bynum is leaving her husband Bishop Thomas Weeks

*Prophetess Juanita Bynum's lawyer sent the divorce paperwork to the Ware County Courthouse early last week, but an error delayed the filing. On Monday, the legal documents were officially filed.

Bynum's lawyer, Karla Walker, said Bynum is seeking the divorce on grounds of cruel treatment and irreconcilable differences. The divorce filing states that the marriage has been "irretrievably broken." The lawyer said her client still loves her husband but "she does feel it necessary to stop the domestic violence and go on with the divorce."

Bynum's husband, Bishop Thomas Weeks III wanted to reconcile. He is accused of stomping, kicking and choking Bynum in an Atlanta hotel parking lot in August. He was charged with felony aggravated assault, felony terroristic threats and two counts of simple battery.
The prophetess told reporters last week at an Atlanta press conference that she was the new face of domestic violence.

Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, the outspoken conservative minister and radio talk show host said, "Domestic violence is wrong whether the victim is a woman or man. Juanita Bynum, however, is not called by God and she's hardly the 'new face of domestic abuse. It's impossible for a God-fearing woman to exploit her marital problems for personal gain and publicity. There are two sides to every story and like too many domestic abuse cases the husband is being tried and convicted based on a one-sided account."

According to published reports, Bynum has said she is moving forward with plans to start a domestic violence ministry.

"Juanita Bynum's comments and actions prove that she's an angry, out-of-control woman. God wouldn't have her discard her marriage in order to promote the domestic abuse issue or any other phony cause," Rev. Peterson said.

Last Saturday, Bynum attended a fundraiser for presidential candidate Barack Obama at Oprah Winfrey's California estate.
