Chopped it up at Justin's restaurant with Vawn & Drumma Boy (Jazze Pha was mia), creator and super producer team of welcome to Dreamland, a reality TV show competition to find a female winner with the best overall musical package. Welcome to Dreamland isn't a stranger to television. The show got it's successful start on Atlanta's own local, Peachtree TV. Due to the shows success it was picked up to be re-run on BET for national viewing. Loving the good news.

A better judging team couldn't have been put together for the show. Drumma Boy, the cool, hit winning producer who keeps turning out hit after hit for major artists battles his team against the equally award winning, world famous and energetic Jazze Pha. The two producers have two different styles as they put these girls to the test in a boot-camp like tough love fashion at times but they both have the same goal, make a star!

Catch the show Tuesday nights at 10:30 p.m. on BET. If you missed it last season or even a few episodes...here is your chance. If you have already seen it, you can look for season two coming soon to BET. Either way, show support.

New TV show about how the Atlanta police do it!

"Atlanta Investigations: HD" (the HD stands for homicide division), is coming to air on Dish networks, Colours Network July 3rd! The show's focus is on real unresolved murders in Atlanta. YET it will not be broadcast in Atlanta. HUH?! Well not yet. We know that will HAVE to change cuz that would just be crazy.

What's exciting about this show is that it is the first TV show drama filled in Atlanta with Atlanta in the title. We've had NYPD Blue, Law and Order, CSI, and of course The Wire, so having a southern based show gives adds a new flavor to police drama. Mmmmm smells like waffles and fried chiken. And I like, i like! Meeting the cast, I have to say viewers have something to look forward to. They are all wonderful and devoted. I had a chance to interview and take pictures of the currently unpaid actors (they are troopers, they will not be paid until the show airs!) when they did a promo back in the earlier part of this year. I'm so enthused for them. Their hard work and determination has paid off as they've worked their backs off to get recognition and a spot nationally on network television.

Hats off to Hattie Lemon and Carl Millender, the shows creators, director and producing team who have fought for the dream. Currently the shows budget is $100,000 an episode, pennies...almost unthinkable in the industry, when other like television episodes have million plus dollar budgets, however that hasn't discouraged the AI team to make lemonade out of lemons. Right Hattie. (wink!).

Snapfinger Elementary's American Idol with celebrity judges

This is about half of the kids that performed (the three girls with the silver headbands won 1st place & more!).

Last Friday night I had the extreme pleasure to do media for a talent show at Snapfinger Elementary on the east side of Atlanta. Besides sweating away every blessed carb that I had consumed that day while sitting in the school's gym where the show was held, I had such a good time! All I'm saying is that the gym could double as a health club sauna. But hey sweating is good because it releases toxins right?! Think positive.

By the time I arrived I had missed the first 3 performances however I was just in time to still be filled with laughter and warmth from the acts that the remaining 10 children put on. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for kids. And these youngsters were brave to get up there and sing, dance, and put all their effort before a packed audience. The best part was every child got a gift certificate award and it was emphasized strongly that all the kids were winners. And they were to me.

Guest celebrity judges included: the always hilarious and kind, Chris Tucker, the now producing, T-Boz, Blaque (yes they are coming back! now involved in recording a new reality show...more on that below), Marlon Campbell (screenwriter of the new movie, "Oblivious" to release Summer 2009 and cousin of Tyler Perry), and another producer. Ronnie DeVoe was also expected in appearance but I'm unsure of his whereabouts.

The celebrity judges were of course very positive and graceful with the children. Chris tucker's heart is so soft that he could not even participate in judging the kids. He didn't think he could choose one winner. Tucker used to attend Snapfinger Elementary as a child. He constantly made jokes with the audience about his tenure at the school before and after receiving a thank you plaque that every judge received. Tucker's best friend has 3 children that now attend the school and he was invited to lead the judging panel. It was such a treat for the children who treated him like he was a modern day Chris Brown, fanning themselves at his sight (and it wasn't the heat of the gym yall), flirting with him, and crowding him for autographs and pictures. Chris and the rest of the celebs obliged.

The winners for the night was a three girl group of chocolate dimes. Friends they were so precious. They won with their "Give me Body" (Beyonce) dance/song medley. These little girls shimmied like Tina Turner no lie! The most exciting thing about their performance is that they were so good that the ladies from Blaque stood up and praised them and then told them that they would be featured on the reality show, play the girls from Blaque when they were younger, and be in the next music video. The kids and parents were so excited jumping up and down I thought the stage would come undone. Instead the Heavens were smiling. It's good to see kids so happy.

Thanks so much to Pam Pinnock of A List PR for the details of the event and for allowing me to secure private interviews with some of the judges (Blaque & Marlon Campbell) at a future date. She was very nice and efficient without coming off rushed and too busy. This isn't always easy in a crowd such as Friday's. But I give love to most of the publicists I have met in this last 6 months. Many events you all have quite the job before you.

New Atlanta Shows!: "Ladies in the Locker Room" and "Atlanta Homicide"

One is, "Ladies in the Locker Room". An Atlanta based 6 women hosted Saturday sports talk show. These knowledgable, sexy ladies will be traveling to the the All Star (Basketball) Weekend in the other derty south known as LA this month to bring you coverage from one of the most major annual sports events around! "Ladies in the Locker Room" is good for the women who want to learn and hear about sports from a female point of view and a treat for men who like to look at a prettier face while hearing the highlights of the week!

The second is, "Atlanta Homicide" that can be likened to, "NYPD Blue" or "New York Undercover" (I used to have strange dreams about Malik Yoba...no lie!) but with a homemade southern flair. Think, "Big Momma's House"...but without the syrpy jokes or the fat suit...or the old people...or the...well okay...don't really think of "Big Momma's House" the movie...just think of the southern part. Wait..."Big Momma's House" wasn't even really taped in the south of Georgia. That was an illusion...it was really filmed in a California neighborhood. Damn. Oh well. But since this tv show, Atlanta Homicide is being taped in the south, i still advise you to get your pecan pie, sweet tea and your bullet proof vest on standby for this well acted thriller!


Recently I had the pleasure of meeting Hattie, the creater and producer of both projects as well as the cast of main characters of, "Atlanta Homicide". I must say that I'd never met a more humble and loyal cast of any show in my experience. Some of that humility may come from the fact that at our point of meeting they had yet to go national. The show was still looking to be picked up by a televison network for season. I am hoping that the throes of success that this show will surely bring them will keep all the actors very real and as "touchable" as they were the day we met. Hollywood can do a number on the psyche...ugh! But I'm going to be faithful that any changes that this family orientated cast makes...will be for the better! Check out the trailor above. "The Moment of Truth"

April, a contestant on new Fox series, "Moment of Truth".

Fox Network unveils it's newest show, "The Moment of Truth" today! I'm a reality TV show queen (looking forward to the newest editions of "Making the Band" and the "Real World vrs Road Rules challenge") and this show with it's money making twist seems like it's gonna be a winner.

Is honesty really the best policy? Basically "Moment of Truth" takes a person and asks them 21 challenging, anything is game, questions and the person has to answer truthfully. The reason why that is such a twist is because the person is hooked up to lie detecting software. So your honesty is rewarded with money by way of $500,000, but at what cost??

Questions are like: "Do you really care about the starving children in Africa?", "If your spouse never would find out, would you cheat on them?", "Do you think your marriage will last another 5 years?", "Have you ever been involved in a criminal act?", "Have you ever stole from your job",...stuff like that, in front of an audience, millions of viewers at home, co-workers, but even worse your loved ones! So is telling the truth, things you may only think about, really work half a million dollars? What if you loose those closest to you by reveling your secret thoughts? Some say, "I can buy new people!". I say, naaaaaaaaah. It reminds me of a scripture in the Bible, "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?", Mark 8:36. Is money worth possibly losing things that money can't buy. I'm a blunt person, but even to me some thoughts should remain private, especially if you don't act on them. We all think some crazy ill thing one time or another...just let it die in your mind and hope it stays away. Now I'm sure some may argue that one could get over being that overly honest later down the road, but to me, why even go through that headache??! Still as crazy as it may be, I will watch the show to see what brave suckers will go for it! Or maybe we are the suckers for not airing our dirty laundry and getting PAID because we decide to keep the peace! Again...naaaaaaaaaah!
