I liked Zoe's sound from, "Hood Ni**er". Unique voice. I dig him. But i never took him serious as an artist/rapper until last night during his, "Don't Feed the Animals" movie premiere at Atlanta's Movie ATL in association with his newly released album from Block Ent. Films, Bad Boy South & The Raw Report. (BTW why is it that Bad Boy suuuuuuuuucks but Bad Boy South continues to thrive...Maybe the Puffster doesn't run that entity so much. Hmmm??! I digress.)

Speaking of "Hood Ni**er", Gorilla Zoe showed his hood side on this project. No i mean REALLY showed his hood side. The movie featuring Zoe, Block, and a full cast may have been GHETTO but it was real. I appreciate Zoe's no holds barred approach to displaying the truth about the struggle of a shadowed past as he tries to change his life for his music. Add a little bit of drama, a not so kid friendly T&A scene (ummm WOW) and lots of HOTT music from his new album (which i will NOW be copping thank u very much!). Zoe did a great job with his character, himself.

Before most the crew ran off to the after party at Tongue & Groove (the rest partied at The Ultimate- thanks Laura!), I got a chance to talk to Zoe last night, who had just gotten off a plane to hit his premiere, and he told me that even though this is his first film (Block's baby with Block Ent. Films) that he plans on doing much more acting. The main motivation for the movie came in from the album of course. Hey yall...wasn't he supposed to be the original "Biggie" in 2008's "Notorious"? Hmmm. Anyway keep an eye out for ya boy, he's definitely an artist worthy of respect for his originality. He pushes the envelope but not in an annoying way or as if in a desperate ploy for attention.

Buy the album out TODAY, you will not be disappointed! Here are two songs off of the record, one also featured on the movie ("Doe Boy") that i REALLY liked & thought you'd like to. I got the clean version but STILL not for kids please.

Red carpet pictures of, 'What Happens In Vegas' - World Premiere at Mann Village Theater a few days ago. Hmmm, seems like a funny movie. Other celebs that came in attendance and support were: Eva Longoria-Parker, Brooke Burns, Dennis Farina, and the nutty Bai Ling wearing some, witches brew, spiderella, medieval maven's no-no, i need attention contraption. I had to put her picture up here too, cuz her choice of clothing puts her on Miesha's "The World's Worst Whacked Out Dressed" list. She weirds me out a little. I really wish she'd be in a new super movie to occupy her time with. I think i'll start a world wide rally called, "Put Bai Ling to good use...please!" Emphasis on the, "Please". But, real talk, Ling knows what's she's doing (hehee...i just said, "Ling".). Sometimes bad attention is better than no attention to some. Oh shame of shames. :(

It was great to see Diaz out and about after last months sad death of her father. She missed a previous marketing event for the movie that Ashton Kutcher (other star of the film) appeared at alone because of Diaz' mental break-down when her father passed. Diaz was very close to her daddy and of course took his departure terribly hard. She was joined by exes, Justin Timberlake, and John Mayer (reportedly dating Jennifer Anniston, they have been cuddling often together in Hollywood where Anniston is filming a new movie...hmmm maybe she could recruit Bai Ling as a co-star...) at her pops funeral. That shows that her past boy toys really care about her and that they were not just lovers, but real friends. Awesome.

Okay here comes a message about love and with my own failures, i've had some victories and i can speak on this. so hear me out!:
All ended relationships don't have to end on bad terms. It depends on the circumstances of the break-up, how it was handled, honesty, chillin' on the over emotional theatrics, and the friendship. So look he left you, saying he needed new excitement, after you stood by his side when he was dead broke and grouchy for 5 years (which personally is rather long to be a girlfriend anyway...okay okay that part is my opinion, to each his/her own baby) but that doesn't mean you need to slash his tires honey! Yeah she was steppin' around behind your back with your step brother who is a dead ringer for Omarion but you don't have to go all Jerry Springer on her or put bleach in her coffee! No. Well sometimes a little (harmless though people) release is good BUT Killing, yes that part is bad. Overall have class, even if they suck, talk about your feelings, and try to move forward, glad to be free. Hard times don't last forever darling.

Yes, a break-up hurts and can break you down, however don't let it steal your flame for too long. If someone is not for you (thinks they don't want you, doesn't respect you, leaves you out to dry, is a chronic cheater, etc.) then hell, let them goooooooooo. Uh bye. Please! Ugggh! Don't you want the right one, not the one keeping the spot warm or wasting YOUR time? Holding onto the wrong one, can cause much misery later and jack up that self-esteem. It's better to cry now and get it out of your system then to be crying in your old age cuz JR. is still doing you dirt! Hello! Let it be. Don't worry, God remembers you and HE is LOVE! True love is worth the wait. You don't have to beg or be lonely newly single either. Fill your life with fun activities, great friends, and helping others. I didn't always see this, these are things I've learned over the years through experience and God, but I see it now and am blessed by it.

If you are not right inside yourself to be a good mate then it aint gonna be good times in a relationship anyway. Are you selfish, mean, a liar, sneaky, spoiled to the point of being unbearable, just plain ol foul, talk your mate down, then oooh uhhn uhhn boo boo, naw. Hey, I myself was a jerk to men in the past. Change is good and you can do it! So, work on you, Live your Life Like it's GOLDEN (Jill Scott) and see what happens later. When a great person (human preferably, aliens or imaginary partners are not real people therefor don't count) comes along and you are ready to give your time away to that someone else again remember that love is not perfect by any means and that he or she that will not be either. Still expect to be treated well and have honesty in that union. A little fun also goes a long way. Value yourself, and in turn value that person right back!!! You often get what you give, and what you allow yourself to be mastered by (in thought or deed) will become your reality. Good or bad. Okay that's my love lesson for the day dears.

Vanessa Williams will graduate from college this weekend!

Vanessa looks glowing, but her lil friend there needs some Crest Whitening Strips.

Vanessa Williams, beauty queen, actress, singer, mother, and skin care endorser can add another item to her already busy resume, college graduate! Coming this weekend I hear that she will be receiving her bachelor of fine arts degree from Syracuse University, after almost 25 years since she left the school.

The 45 year old can add this accomplishments to many other high honors she's received such as a Tony Award, two NAACP Image Awards, the George Arents Pioneer Medal in 1996(the university's most prestigious alumni award), and nine Grammy nominations.

The LA lady has been more recently seen around town with her NBA ex-baller, ex-husband, Rick Fox (yo he messed that one up for real dude) while attending to their children. Fox did a nice job in Tyler Perry's, "Meet the Browns". While it wasn't much like the play to me (except the funeral scene...very silly) it was a funny, and touching movie. If you haven't seen it, please do. I have to say I was most impressed with Lance Gross' (House of Payne actor) performance. He played Angela Bassets' high school aged son who at the ending of the movie got an NBA contract. The scene where he comes in from the streets after being gone all night to find his mother (Angela's character) angry and worried about the life style he was gonna choose, took my breath away. He did very well. And he's very nice to look at. Eheeheee. Go Eva (dates Lance)!

Exclusive interivew with "Oblivious" director Marlon Campbell.

"The Producers" (Joe, Marlon & Akbar) these guys are serious, and they are making moves in the industry!

His new movie may be "Oblivious" but Marlon Campbell himself is far from that. The multi faceted Campbell is completely aware of the entertainment world around him and in essence, the world seems to be his oyster.

I sat down with the marvelous Marlon and a couple of his business associates to start off my weekend. You can listen to our interview here to learn more about this man who has spent his career respectively both in front of and behind the scenes.

The cousin of the talented Tyler Perry, Marlon Campbell, grew up close to his family in the southern New Orleans. In a home ran by a hard working single mother, Campbell always had a mind for entertainment and success. He started climbing the ladder of fame singing in the group Shy Shy and C.R.I.M.E in the 80's and 90's. After singing Campbell continued to steadily climb the rungs of the ladder with: consulting for popular artist, his first television film and then he hit the stage as Claudius in Shakespeare's, "Macbeth" in 1996.

After meeting back with his cousin in 2003 acting as Tyler Perry's first film distributor, Campbell became the president of the popular online gaming company, 404 Gaming. But since film was a constant goal for Campbell he's recently started to put the wheels in motion for his first feature film, "Oblivious" to go into production this summer. "Oblivious" is the story about a group of young people whose lives take a downward blind spiral in a series of events. The exciting thriller is slated for a summer 2009 release date. But as important as a first film is, his movie is not the only thing on his plate. Currently Campbell along with business executive, Akbar Cojoe is involved as an executive producer of, "Blaque in the house", a reality show featuring the original members of the R&B girl group Blaque (with TLC member T-Boz) as they make their return to the music industry after suffering the loss of their beloved mentor, Lisa Lopez.

Campbell remains focused, wise and giving as he continues to plan, plot and make his dreams a reality. The new director plans to use his new movie, "Oblivious" as a monetary and social platform to bring more attention to crisis in Darfur, Africa. Basically that means he and his team are putting their money where their mouths are. I give respect to a man that gives out of heart and pocket when they are able. Beyonce to star as the legendary Etta James in new movie she's also producing!

Beyone in vegas last week- when you are a true star like this woman, not only can you afford to have a beautiful, new custom lace wig every other day, but you can also have someone shield it from the wind as well!

Beyonce chanells the energy of the legendary blues singer, Etta James as the star and executive producer of the upcoming drama, "Cadillac Records". The 1950's set flick also stars, Matt Dillion (I bet he is happy to get close to Bey!), and Cedric the Entertainer. The movie begins filming this year.

I am confident that this will be another project that Beyonce will shine in. Is it even fair to be that much of a true super star? The woman is just that fabulously talented and always the graceful, yet sexy lady.

"A Raisin in the Sun" premiere comes to Atlanta's Woodruff Arts Center

McDonald, Stamos, Combs, Rashad, and Lathan (dang she looks...amaaaaaaaazing!) at The Sundance Film Fesitval in Utah last month

First Sundance, now Atlanta?? Maybe Atlanta is becoming as fabulous as my eyes are telling me it is!

Kenny Leon, the director of the 2004, Tony Award-Winning Broadway production of, “A Raisin in the Sun” is bringing his version of the play and now tv film to Atlanta's Woodruff Arts Center as a red carpet event, Monday, February 11th for a pre-viewing!

Leon took Lorraine Hansberry's classic and put his own spin on it by casting some of today's familiar faces in black Hollywood like: Sanaa Lathan, Audra McDonald (Tony actress winning for her role), Phylicia Rashad (Tony actress winning for her role), John Stamos and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Word is that for now actors from the play that are confirmed as coming are: Audra McDonald, Bill Nunn, David Oyelowo and young actor Justin Martin, who portrays grandson Travis in the telefilm. Leon has put it out there for the other cast members to come however I'm sure with the Grammys placed for this Sunday, stars such as Diddy won't be coming through to Atlanta for the event.

If you don't already have tickets for this incredible night, most likely you won't get any at this point. The good news is you can still catch the 3 hour televsion event on ABC on the 25th of this month.

The Great Debaters, movie review

I've been meaning to express how much i enjoyed the film, "The Great Debaters" produced by Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions. Although none of the actors received any Oscar nominations, the cast did an incredible job expressing what it must've been like to be a black debate team living in Texas in the 1930's, and evoking emotion into the audience. African Americans were free at that time but still openly disrespected. It's an incredible, thoughtful movie with some powerful and heartfelt scenes. I won't spoil it too much for you...just go watch it before it leaves the theaters!

Wonderful performances by: Jurnee Smollett who plays Ruth, and new-comers Nate Parker who plays Henry and Denzel Whitaker who plays James (Forest Whitaker's son). We already know that Denzel W. and Forest W. did a smash up job! Great casting for this one Hollywood!

SAW 4, movie/DVD review

Saw 4 is dropping onto the shelves at your local movie rental locations today! But don't skip the first few steps... it's best to see Saw, 1,2, and 3 before you scare yourself with Saw 4. In a word: Gross.

You thought he was dead didn't you? Well yes...but maybe not really. This movie like it's predecessors tells the twisted stories of "self mutilated" victims who die at the master mind of the Jigsaw Killer. The movie series bled the message of: forgiveness and gratitude into the psyche of millions of movie goers first in 2004. Now several years later, Saw lives on as a reminder to live right lest you be next...we humans forget easily and need reminders anyway don't we?

This time Jigsaw chooses a "do gooder" obsessed police officer to go through obstacles in order to save others which in this backward twist can actually kill them, others or even himself. He begs those completing these "impossible" bloody obstacles to "See what I see" as they field their way through torture and terror. The images are more than gruesome as your eyes feast upon the calculated and well scripted events of this macabre horror while the always clever story painfully reveals itself to the audience. I myself can never fully guess what the Jigsaw is up to. Can you?

We find out that this famous "killer" was once married and then snapped when a random event of misfortune happened in he and his spouses life. It changed the sociopath forever...he became addicted to teaching lessons. to the undeserving in life. Are you undeserving?

The flash back history into the life of Jigsaw gives movie goers and fans a little more to imagine and even understand about the tale. My only complaint is that the first part of the movie is too dark (the colors). I know the filmmakers and editors may've been trying to set the scene but it's so dark and dank that it is hard to see all the important details. Maybe when you rent it on DVD the images will be more clear at home or at least you can rewind what you may have missed. The crazy scenes tend to happen so quickly!

New director but same sickness. This may be the best Saw yet! I can't imagine what they will serve up next. Yes next...cuz now after seeing number 4 i can't say that we've seen the last of Saw. In the words of Jigsaw in that same eerily steady gravely voice..."You think it's over...but it's not!" It's ooooh all so very disturbing...but i like it that way.
