Kanye West chills in Atlanta over the weekend. Was his ATL concert better than Jay's??

Kanye's highly anticipated "Glow in the Dark" concert tour featuring Pharell, Lupe Fiasco and Rihanna finally hit the A this past weekend. My friend and ace, Shem went and said that the concert was bananas! Even better than Jay's (with Mary J) recent concert that hit our great city and i'm like dayum! Yet not shocked. I know that Kanye has major talent. See Ye is the performer while Jay is the more mature seasoned vet with the better business sense. Once Ye cools down on all of his emotion he may be playing in the same league that Jay does. But Ye's got that talent, that crazy genius way about him that creates insane lyrics, awesome press (even though he is banning the press at this point, i get cuz they DO twist folks words) and a style frenzy (Jay can dress but Kanye dressesssssssssssss). Not that the two rappers can be compared on every level, but if to be compared on an intelligent writing, and stage performance level, I'd choose Ye. Not that Jay can't write (he's hot) or ain't got a great presence. It's just that Ye sounds better on paper intellectually and Jay has been around for so long that he's kinda lazy on stage...and damn he can be. He's older so he aint gotta jump around the way Ye does (plus that aint Jay's style or energy), and will sell tickets without really trying. It's good to be Jay. Jay still beats Ye in the swagga department. That boy is tooooo cool for words. Kanye goes off too much to be cool. He's a hot head. He's real wit it, and honest but he's a hot head. Jay will just ignore you and treat you like you are a peasant. AND get away with it. Dag. Incredible Swagger.

Kanye ripped it. Rihanna sang well (so i heard but am not yet convinced), and Lupe fell (and got right back up...he did a Beyonce) on the stage while doing his thing. It's not funny (stifles giggles...) yall.

Rihanna and Chris Brown supposedly were chillin' all lovey dovey at The Verge Lounge (who knows...) and Kanye skipped his after party at Studio 72 (been and I didn't really dig it like i do the Velvet Room), and went to The Chill Spot at 300 Bowling Alley (had a few lanes reserved. I dig the more intimate party instead of clubbin' it alllllllll night long. Love Kanye.) with Quincy Jones, Chaka (DTP) Polow, and Quincy Jones and then hung with Pharell and Jeezy at the Velvet Room. Kanye always does what he wants to do. But if he didn't...would he even be Kanye anymore??

Kanye and Alexis official break-up :(

Why i care about some celeb break-up i don't know. But i was a little saddened by the news last week that Kanye West and designer Alexis Phifer broke off their engagement. The rumors began when Alexis was seen at a fashion show sans her engagement bling. then she confirmed with People Magazine the real truth also revealing her sadness about the situation. Duh. But of course she's sad. Breaking up before the media can't be easy right?

It's weird because not too long ago (in a magazine interview) I recall him talking about them getting married soon. I recall him saying how much he loved her and how he found someone who was good for him. In pictures he always seemed to be so near her and happy to be at that! I wondered how they would fare after his mother's death and all the emotions that one goes through after that. Also after really listening to one of my very favorite songs of his, "Flashing Lights" I began to think that maybe he and Alexis had some problems with him getting caught doing her dirt and them going back and forth in the relationship. Maybe I analyze too much but Kanye seems to be real in his lyrics and talk about what he is going through in life. Also of that song he is quoted saying that the song was about everything going on in his life or should I say the video, which of course relates in its own way to the song.

Anyway I deem that our good 'ol lil rapper boy is just going through some stuff and still dealing with his emotions...as he always is because dude is publicly emotional. I wish them the best and if it is meant to be, they will get back together. Breaks are not so bad if you need them. Get your head together Kanye.

Dr. Donda West- The surgery complications didn't expire her life. So what about multiple surgeries?

Not too long ago Dr.Donda West (author, entrepreneur and beloved mother of rapper Kanye West) as all know passed away. She simply went in to take care of some things on her body to improve it. A breast lift or reduction for women many times is for health reasons because large breasts can be physically overbearing and cause back pain. Well after this and another operation many people were in an uproar not only due to Dr. West's unexpected early and sad demise but much controversy surrounded the doctor that performed several back to back cosmetic surgery procedures on her days before her departure. Reports claimed that it was suggested to Dr.West that she not undergo simultaneous operations due to her current health state, yet that was ignored and the surgeries were done. As a result, when she passed fingers were pointed in pain, wonder and confusion.

We just learned however from her autopsy report that there were no signs that the operations caused complications resulting in trauma on the body and then death. This is to say she died of "natural" causes. Therefor not ruling out the former possibility completely but giving it more strength in credibility than before the autopsy report was revealed. Now some are still left to wonder what killed Dr. Donda West? Was it just her time to go? I guess at the end of the day, that is always what it is no matter how or why a person may pass. It is not always "fair" we realize but being a liver of life for enough time I know that it is sometimes just that way. Even though Kanye seems to be trying to move forward in a healthy way...it mustn't be easy.

So if multiple surgeries didn't harm West physically in any way, are they okay? Can a man or woman safely go under the knife cosmetically in this case and expect to wake with a clean bill of health? I know with any surgery there are never guaranteed because there is always that inherent risk, however outside of that risk do multiple surgeries add further warning. Hmmmmm??

2. Do you think cosmetic surgery is healthy? Vain? Necessary in some cases? Mental?

Kanye's hanging in there- Paris concert breakdown video

The world knows that my man Kanye is dealing with the recent death of his beloved mother & friend Dr. Donda West. Her funeral is tomorrow.

I wondered why there is so much EXTRA press surrounding Dr.Donda West's death. Many celebs have a mother of close family member that passes away and I don't recall there being this much press for many of them. I came up with some reasons why this tragedy has stuck the heart of entertainment America so forcefully:

1. Kanye is at the current height of his fame and popularity
2. Kanye is controversial, a fashion icon, and publicly known to fully speak his mind or have honest outbursts.
3. Kanye and his mother were publicly VERY close. They were family that worked and traveled together.
4. No death is ever at the right time but Dr.Donda West's death was not foreseen.
5. Reports say the death was caused due to post surgery complications so it was possibly avoidable.

Before the passing of his mother Kanye spoke of being excited to get married to fiance Alexis Phifer, fashion designer. He told an interviewer that he didn't want the wedding to be a spectacle because he had nothing to prove to anyone but he was happy to go and just do it because he's found someone who he really loves and is just as crazy as he is. I'm glad to hear the top selling rapper is so much in love. It is good that he has Alexis by his side in this current crisis.

God is in control of all of this of course. I continue to pray for Kanye, Alexis and the entire West family.

Losing your mother is losing a piece of yourself- Donda West & Kanye

Like Momma like Kanye...they even have the same mouth...and nose. :)

A man and his mother...it is a special relationship that may be foreign to women without children or boys of their own womb to understand. Fully grasped or not it is a bond and union that once created is not easily shattered in opposition unless that opposition be death. Well Kanye West faced the greatest opposition of his life this week when his Mother, Dr. Donda West, only 58 passed away after post surgery complications.

The word on the street is that it's always best to marry a man who loves his mother because if he shows her honor then he will surely honor you. Well Kanye West's fashion designer fiance, Alexis Phifer must be a lucky woman because Kanye was known as a man who took care of his mom. Donda West left her job as an English professor in Chicago to run Loop Dreams (teaching kids about the music and entertainment industry) and to aid her son in his career in L.A. The pair were close: they worked together, her as CEO of his entertainment company, Super Good, as a chair of his foundation for children and literacy, Kanye West Foundation, they played together, them attending awards shows together, he supporting her fully on her book about him, "Raising Kanye" this year. Kanye affectionately stated, "My mama's my best friend." and wrote, "Hey Mama" in her living tribute to a single mom who took him to cultural activities in the city when he was younger and always encouraged his artistic endeavours. He gave respect where respect was due to a woman who did her best to raise a man all by herself. Kanye's father left him when he was only 3 years old so it was only Donda and Kanye to fend for themselves in Blue Island and Tinley Park on the South Side of Chicago. Being from the Windy City myself and living on the South Side for a period I can tell you that it is rough. There are no "hoods" in Atlanta like to hoods in Chicago. It is where real gangstas lives and black men are killed for walking on the wrong side of the street or ganked for their new shoes. Yet the Wests still praise Chicago in all its roughness and remembered their roots. Chicago is, "My Kind of Town", Frank Sinatra sang of the Hollywood and more white side of that Midwest piece of America however he wasn't far off the mark. It is a town full of history, old culture and energy.

Despite rough beginnings Donda and Kanye had magical outcomes as she raised this boy to be a successful, albeit emotional man-star! And that star shined and reached back and never forget that mama that loved him in all his boyhood years and through his manhood. I feel saddened by her short life. I wish that she never got the surgery and Donda wasn't even my own mom. I don't even know Kanye intimately but because he wears his emotions on his sleeve I kinda feel a kinship to him and can understand his pain. Just because I have a mother of my own that I admire and appreciate (from childhood to this day my mommy reminds me warmth and all that is good in love and in the earth) I can relate to that kind of agony that can't be soothed in days or even years.

My prayers go out to Kanye, Alexis and the rest of the West family. I know that anyone can get through hard times with God. May HE be closer to Kanye after this hardship than before.
