Taking time out from bowling to talk to To ESPN

Osi Umenyiora (New York Giants #72) took over the city of Atlanta last weekend in honor of his annual celebrity charity weekend for Strike 4 a Cure. Umenyiora started off the festivities on Thursday afternoon when he spoke to the youth at Carver High School about being hard workers, AIDS awareness and being protected. I hear he had the kids rapt attention.

The party portion started Friday evening which presented the exclusive black tie affair held at the W Hotel in downtown Atlanta (who knew there was a W in downtown too?! Oh oh i see, all of yall knew...so i'm the only one who didn't know you say? oh aight...). The affair was welcoming with an open bar, an appearance by Atlanta's premier entertainment attorney, Charles Mathis, Dekalb County CEO, Vernon Jones (quite the social magnet for the ladies), Hannah Kang of Grand Hustle (who received her own award and honor), Takeo Spikes, Jason Allen, and Osi Umenyiora himself who gallantly mingled with his honored guests and NFL friends. Basically the crowd was scattered with different football players in a different type of uniform for the evening, a suit and tie. The evening ended with a night of dancing at Verve Lounge. I couldn't hang yall so I bounced. I'm not feeling the club vibe too much these days...besides I was at Studio 72 two weekends in a row...so naw i'm good. But I know it was good times.

Saturday afternoon was incredibly fun as Osi and his friends took over the private suite at 300 Atlanta's bowling alley. The catered event almost felt like a tiny club with all the tight music videos booming on the big screens as men and women competed for bragging rights and more importantly were Striking for a Cure, to raise money for the charity. And you already know they went to the club again that night right? Yup this is Atlanta, duh. So off to Club Esso's on memorial drive they partied, finishing it all off on Sunday night at my favorite, The Velvet Room.

Osi's second annual Strike 4 a Cure event raised over $40,000 with the proceeds going to the charity's focus on HIV/AIDS and Alzheimer's research, outreach and education. Osi is a gentleman who is rather low key, doesn't crave too much attention outside of the field, and is no nonsense. Good look Osi, we are very proud of your work and dedication. Last weekend Marcus McNeil from the San Diego Chargers celebrated the 2nd year of his children's charity, Mack's Miracles, by throwing celebrity weekend party with mingling at the W hotel, bowling at Atlanta's 300, and a having a blast at Club Dreamz.

My weekend was crazy BUT i did have an opportunity to stop by the event at the posh W Hotel on Friday night to speak with Marcus, AllHipHop.com's founder, Grouchy Greg, and a few other friends and supporters in sports of Marcus. That evening Marcus was joined by fans, athletes, family, friends and hip hop and sports business moguls.

McNeil is a giant. The 23 year old did not miss out on the height department at 6 foot 9. But don't be alarmed he is also funny and truly kind & friendly. Speaking to the football player I learned that he started this organization because of his family. He told me that he would watch his nephew play video games all day and not want to go out and it concerend him. The offensive lineman wants to educate and keep kids active to fight child obesity. I have to say that speaking to Greg, AllHipHop.com's founder was the highlight of my night. You will never meet a more real dude who is all hip hop without being an artist himself. Who's Lying? Carmello Anthony and Lala OR the Denver Police?

It was all over the media that Denver Nuggets star player Carmello Anythony was pulled over early Monday morning because he was driving drunk. Reports show that the police department took favor on him by dropping him off at his hotel instead of taking him to detox and personally taking his pimped out ride to a safe place instead of impounding it. Investigations are being made do to this. Some say it's playoffs man so let it ride! Well the story was gnarled with rumors that Anthony's fiance and mother of his new son, Lala Vasquez refused to pick him up when he called her for a ride. There have been mixed reactions from, was it fair for Carmelo to get "special treatment" from the law enforcement in Denver to, can anyone blame Lala for leaving her man out to dry with his so called wicked ways....(i say so called because there is always here-say in celeb life)?

Well to set the record straight, Lala and her man spoke directly to the source, People Magazine and cleared the air. Carmelo quickly did a press conference to apologize to his team, fans and family for his unacceptable dangerous drunk driving behavior. And Lala of course spoke up so people would know she is down for her man. She's not letting any of these other chicks get her man cuz in the eyes of the public she aint acting right!

“I want to make sure the public understands that I fully support my fiancé, Carmelo Anthony, and stand by him through this ordeal,” Vazquez said in a statement to the popular People Magazine on Tuesday. “I will always have his back and never refused to pick him up from the police station. In fact, they offered to bring him to me.” (but police and magazines say otherwise...hmmmm. Lala is calling their bluff!)

Anthony followed with a humble,: “LaLa continues to be a rock in my life, she’s always been there for me through thick and thin.”

Well if she's your rock, mello, make that rock on her finger official and marry her already like you said you were! Or maybe she's not ready. Or maybe i should just stay outta grown folks biz...who knows what's really going on.

Super Bowl XXXIII players & former Atlanta Falcon stars Jamal Anderson & Travis Hall unveil new patented home gym system that they have been involved in creating, ProSpot Fitness Home Gyms. The difference between ProSpot and other home gyms is in the technology. ProSpot models (there are several different machines) allow free range weights without a spotter. Check out the video above for a quick example. Jamal's little (big) cute self is on the commercial. By the way aren't we glad that Jamal decided (as well as America) that he WASN'T the best rap super star??!! (he had that silly little stint on the MTV mini series) It was still fun to watch though and nothing wrong with a little publicity. Now he and Travis really have something going that fits their expertise!

This is a great idea for your health, especially for staying healthy at home for the busier people who may not have as much time to go to the gym. Sports Profile- Anotonio Cromartie

"Call me..."
He has been called a"freakish talent" after this year's season end. Also dubbed, "The Natural", a rarity, dependable, raw, and legend Antonio Cromartie, corner back of the San Diego Chargers is like inherent magic on the field. Yet earlier this week when a fan gushed over him being famous and wanted to take a picture with him, before the flash of the Canon he simply replied, "I'm not famous, i'm just a regular guy with an irregular job."

People see, people talk
What I hear the most about this man, "Antonio loves the game.". When people that know him speak they always stress the word love. But you don't have to be family, friends or a sports enthusiast to gather such obvious observations about #31's passion for the sport. Antonio is not only in the game, he becomes the game. And at 6'3 and 203 pounds, the 23 year old is all might.

Difficult circumstances, unlikely victories
He hurt his knee in 2005 so severely that the medical team would not clear him to play. Antonio begged but his pleas were unwarranted. During 2006 his mother underwent treatment for breast cancer, and he put football on hold for a more important love, blood. Then some of you may remember that in the 2006 first round picks Cromartie and his agent seemingly got an unfair deal when as the #19 pick, he took a $900,000 drop in cash flow with "unreasonable" incentives compared to the the #20 pick. Oh and he wasn't even supposed to start in 2007. Guess what? Difficult circumstances can always turn into victories...if even unlikely at first. Cromartie who was always seen to be a raw talent by his team and GM, A.J. Smith, lead the league in 10 interceptions last season and got to play in his first pro bowl. He didn't win defensive player of the year BUT he got a few votes for the title in his favor. And this is really just the beginning for Cromartie who was only in his second season. Wow...I wonder what greatness the future will hold for this young man.

Wedding bells?
Well one great thing the near future holds for Cromartie is more love. Not love for the game or just a love for his family, but an extended family. Antonio Cromartie as most fans know is getting married this summer. He'll be 24 by the time he jumps the broom with a lavish wedding ceremony taking place in ______ at the______with his lovely now fiance ______. Yeah sorry friends I can't give you too many details yet to protect the very delightful nuptials of the happy couple. Plus again many of you out there already know the who the when and maybe even the how.

But this I will share with you: these two really adore each other and the wedding is going to be fabulous!! Oh the decor, the elegance! I know there are some haters out there and people can say negative things all they wish about someone else's romance however nobody knows the true heart of a man but God, that man, that woman and maybe the people who are the closest to them. Trust, they are confident. I am helping to work this wedding so I plan to post some pictures at the right and permitted time to show you all.

I hope that you have your own unique greatness. Whatever that may be. For Antonio it is football, for Chris Brown it is singing and dancing, for Oprah it is reaching the world through talk, for Martha Stewart it is baking and decor, for my mom it is being so selflessly giving. What about you? Find yours and expand so it is not only for self, and share. I also hope that you have a special love that you can call your own. Not a shared one but your own. And if you don't have it YET then that's okay. It doesn't make you less. Hell some people just aren't ready or are full enough. But i ask that when you find it (however and whenever it may come to you) that you respect that love and be grateful. Some things will be taken and never returned again once mistreated. Message...

NFL Star Rod Coleman's second annual Rod Coleman Foundation Teen Entrepreneurship Camp!

Atlanta Super Bowl XXXVII player and NFL Man of the Year nominee, Rod Coleman is hosting his second annual Rod Coleman Foundation Teen Entrepreneurship Camp!

Only 40 youths will be selected to participate in the five-day business camp. Teens ages 14-18 will learn marketing goals, create business cards, promotional materials, write a business plan, start an actual company and collect revenue and gain profit. Teens will develop skills in negotiation, sales, customer service, problem solving, networking, time management, record keeping, and public speaking. The Rod Coleman Foundation uses a unique hands-on, real-world approach that will help prepare teens for future careers in the workforce as well as entrepreneurship. The teens will then participate in the Rod Coleman Foundation Business Plan Challenge where they present their business plans to corporate executives and compete for venture capital to help fund their start-ups. Rod and other celebrity guests will judge the final business plan competition on April 11, 2008.

You know for all the big talk that T.O. does I have to say that he's very sensitive. And most super confident people have a passionate, softer side underneath all that tough skin, so that's fine. He made it rain (yes he threw out thousands of dollars into the crowd), he gave out bottles of champagne, he talked ish while he paraded on the stage, he tried to pay dancing hopefuls (girls of course) $1,000 for a shake 'em dance contest but the contest never took place, but mostly he just smiled and cheesed the entire night as women relentlessly flocked him like he was a new diamond encrusted Prada bag left unattended. Welcome to the world of Floyd "Money" Mayweather! He tore up club Dreamz on Saturday night celebrating his latest boxing win against Ricky Hatton.

The money man who gained a reported $11 million from his latest brawl may stand 5 foot 4 on a good day, and have an old man's name but he's got a very young, magnetic and vibrant spirit. You can tell he would be a kick A** friend to have. Club Dreams is a HUGE spot, with three VIP areas in Atlanta located on Clairmont Rd. off of 85. They had Lil Kim and Gucci Mane the weekend before so check them out. Thanks to Dante of Lotus Lounge for putting us on the list and AK the Razor Man from Grand Hustle for getting me in VIP. AK's got a new video coming out yall. Look out for this HOT hustler! Other people that came through that night were: Jason Jeter, Alphamega, Shay "Buckey" Johnson, Bobby Valentino and Cedric the Entertainer. Anyway these are pictures i got of the party and Floyd that night...he was so much fun and very nice, a little spacey, but very nice. I was feverishly bored to tears the entire night until i got to meet Floyd, get some pics and then my camera went out like the damn luck that i have so i left...it was 4:15 in the morning yall so I was happy to go. Anyway I say all that to say I was bored and tired until I met the boxing champ who's infectious spirit helped to pick up my drained body a bit. Go Floyd...the best trash talker in boxing...EVER!

Okay like am i too old to still want a barbie??

Okay so yeah I talk about rappers badly from time to time in regards to messy lyrics or a alluding to a poor image of women folk in the media...damn-it!! However (sigh) I must say during the season to be jolly these guys are some of the first ones to give their hearts and lend their wallets in giving back to those in need!

This time I'm talking about the original Snowman, Young Jeezy and CTE along with Charles Mathis (entertainment Lawyer) and DeAngelo Hall (Atlanta Falcons) pulled their resources together to a create an event called, "1000 toys for 1000 kids". The events kicked off with a dinner and after party at Puffy's Atlanta restaurant, Justins with Jeezy, D Wade (L.A. Lakers),Shaq (L.A. Lakers), and Ray J in attendance. A toy donation or $25 donation allowed entry. To follow the successful dinner/party on a separate night a bowling party took place at 300 in Atlanta where Ne-Yo, Polow Da Don (supa producer) and Shaka from DTP came out to lend support and a skate party open to the public took place at Cascade Family Skating Rink. To add icing to a fresh cake a grand toy giveaway took place last Friday in Macon, GA! I wish I could have seen the kids faces in Macon, but thanks to Milena Brown of 5W PR for the invite! She's a very hands on and kind publicist...gotta love that!

The stands filled last Saturday for the moment of truth. Who would win- the Sandtown Vikings or the Central Dekalb Black Jaguars? Even though the tension was thick, the coaches were pouncing, and the rain fell steady there was still a happiness that surrounded the stadium as hundreds and hundreds of people joined in the festivities. Grills ran in the stuffed parking lot, kids peddled candy on the steps, Young Ralph performed, "Look Like Money" and threw money into a crowd of excited kids, Shawty Lo performed, "Dey Know" (see video below) causing the kids to draw in even closer to sing along to words from a son that they hear on their favorite radio station, V-103. The station has helped these local rappers become superstars in their own right. The afternoon was nothing but fun! I am well past grade school age but nevertheless found my self beaming like a 5th grader. And yes I am "smarter" than one Fox Networks and America, thank you!

I spoke with Nina Brown, the morning show producer for the Frank and Wanda Morning show on V-103 and learned that she first started out working for the foundation. I also had an opportunity to speak with Stan and Prez, close friends of Frank Ski about what the foundation meant for them. They were so proud to see how far it has come in such a short time. As I reported earlier this week, The Sandtown Vikings did win by a landslide: 54 to 7. This was an especially important win for the Vikings, their first in a competition of many. The boys in purple were proud. One of the greatest things about the foundation is that every teams wins. Prizes equalling up to $20,000 is split between the 4 teams that start off to play during the joyous annual awards ceremony. The largest amount of $10,000 goes to the championship winning team. Legacy Communities, Air Tran, and Kroger are all responsible for helping these dreams come true with their generous sponsorships.

The wondrous wine tasting held at the Ski's Atlanta mansion, and attended by the likes of: Diddy, Malik Yoba, Speech (Arrested Development), 112, and many others followed the next day aiding in raising more money for the foundation to continue its work in the community. The Frank Ski Kids Foundation saw another successful year! The 4th annual celebrity wine tasting and auction went off happily with Christmas spirit at Frank and Tanya (she is always such a poised and warm spirited women) Ski's illustrious north Atlanta home. This year the December 16th event was catered by Carrabbas (makes sense since Frank & Wanda plug the restaurant so heavily on their V-103 morning show...should be great business pick-up for the Southern Italian restaurant) and several celebrity appearances were made: Yung Joc, Emmanuel Lewis, Keith Sweat, Brian Jordan (Atlanta Braves), Luke ("Don't stop...get it get it!"), Malik Yoba, Speech (of Arrested Development- and yes they are still recording and as FABULOUS as ever!) & his wife Yolanda, Q & Slim of 112, DJ Troomp, Vernon Jones and Dallas Austin. Our media friend Diddy even stopped by and showed his love supporting the cause by bidding $14,000 during a bidding war on a 2002 six liter bottle of Opus One. I think the gentlemen that was bidding against diddy was trying to get a little attention, prove a point and show Mr. Combs up a little. Oh well the Ciroc Vodka endorser won and money was raised!

I will report on the pre-events that I had the pleasure to attend that were the youth bowls hosted by the foundation. Every year a youth bowl is held allowing the children ages 12-15 to perform in football for money and trophies received to go to their communites. In the final championship game last Saturday, The Sandtown Vikings didn't let the rain stop their focus, they won their first title, kicked major tail and scored an impressive 56 to 7 against the Central Dekalb Jaguars! Eva Longoria-Parker and Tony Parker cheating RUMORS!

Oh hell naw! I'm not going to sit here and say that all men in this world are good however there are some that are loyal, and have self control. So tell me why this chick, Alexandra Pressant is telling the word that Tony Parker ordered room service and then slept with her in a Paris hotel (The Park Hyatt) this past September! According to this loopy broad they met via a mutual friend at HIS wedding of all places (yeah right) and exchanged numbers, then sexy text messages, then boom when he was in Paris he gave it to her good....in the bed. According to her he did it because he wasn't ready to get married and because Eva doesn't like to explore sexually (having sex in front of the mirror, is afraid that sperm with give her acne), etc. All I can think of is Tony Parker is completely smitten with Eva. I've seen the way he looks at her. And if he didn't want to marry the woman in the first place then he wouldn't of. He dated her long enough to know what kind of sex she liked. They JUST got married. C'mon...how weak.

Pressant, a French "model" says she even visited the San Antonio spurs basketball point guard (Tony) in San Antonio in October and he showed her his new mansion being built. What happened to the morals of marriage or respect for yourself at least?!! I tell you when someone wants publicity they will stoop low. Dawg even TMZ is saying it's a rumor. Tony and Eva have released statements to People magazine. Eva says that Tony has been nothing short of perfect as a husband and Tony says he loves his wife. They know better. We aint dealing with Shaq, D.Wade, Iverson, Kobe or Jordan. I know those men travel alot and have cheated but all of them don't. And then Eva is WAY hotter than that nut case! Booooooooooooo French girl. You are whack!
