This woman has a message!
At first I was nervous that like the cancelled Golden Globes ,even the 2008 Trumpet Awards would be a bust due to the ongoing writers strike (and i am aware that this particular awards show should not be affected by the strike.) that has forced television loving Americans to watch re-runs of their favorite prime-times or to dig into reality tv a little more. I hope Hollyweird comes to an agreement in all this quickly!

I prepared to cover this event not expecting a whole bunch of star power to bring down the house because it was set for the same weekend/day as the Golden Globes. Well it happened on Sunday, for the 1st time in my life (well uhhmm maybe the second) I was wrong. This year's prestigious Trumpet sounded loudly enough to bring in some of Entertainments and business' elite heavy hitter. For those of you dullards that don't know what the Trumpet Awards are, do your homework!! But for now, I will tell you that it is an annual award show est. 1993 formed by Xernona Clayton. The Trumpet Awards honors African Americans for excellence and accomplishments in categories such as: entertainment, medicine, business, politics and law! There are several smaller events, a large beautiful banquet, a press junket and the red carpet awards show, this year hosted by Samuel L. Jackson. This year's entertainment nominees were: Halle Berry, Danny Glover, Ludacris, and Brian Jordan. All attended except Halle Berry due to doctors orders regarding travel. To name a few other honorees: Sheila Johnson, Dr. T.B. Boyd III and the Moss twins (Doctors) and there there were several more. The elegant awards show, airing on TV One on March 3rd 2008 (check you local listing for times) was a huge success!! In fact we might be able to thank the cancellation of the "bigger" awards show for that...thanks to the non activity of the Golden Globes! Saturday a press junket was held and the actual ceremony took place at the Atlanta Civic Center on Sunday, January 13th. Favorites by the likes of: Samuel L. Jackson (one of my favorite actors!!), Danny Glover, Ludacris (YES!!), Judge Hatchet (very kind and lovely), India Arie (she's SO amazing!!), Chris Tucker (who brought his mother and was singing to Pebo Brison down the red carpet), Jesse Jackson (rather stiff), Tom Joyner (old but fabulous), Kym Whitley (she's funnier in person! plus she's lost weight...HOT!), Sheryl Lee Ralph (powerful and passionate speaker), James Avery (broke his foot), Pebo Brison (got serenaded), Brian Jordan, Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin (this woman is elegant!), Angie Stone (arriving with her "boy toy" and looking fierce!), Lalah Hathaway (Donny Hathaway's singing daughter!), Hill Harper (writer, actor, philanthropy) , Emmanuel Lewis (short and sweet), Bernice king (The King family will always live), Pastor Bobby Jones (can i get a witness?!), Vernon Jones (Dekalb County comm.), Frank Ski and Tanya and Miss Sophia (top Atlanta radio host, philanthropy and radio co-host), Keith Sweat ("nobody baby!"), Lou Gosset Jr. (looking gooooooooowd!), G. Garvin (now i'm hungry!), Miss Black Georgia USA, Victoria Rowell, Dawn Lewis (it IS "A Different World" but girlfriend still looks great!), Ronald S. Martin (a tv one show host), Shereef Abdur-Rahim, Marcus Johnson, Ernie Hudson, and etc. came to support the important event.

The Trumpet Awards didn't get trumped! And nor should they have. They are honorable awards given to recipients who have dedicated their time to making a difference. I'm so blessed that I was amongst so many powerful, positive black faces that weekend. I want to thank Lachelle Morris of HoneyMag.com ATL for giving me the heads up and Bunnie Jackson-Ransom & Zachery Slaton of First Class, Inc. for allowing me admittance into this memorable event.

Most of the world knows but I'd like to give my congrats due to Nicole Richie and fiance Joel Madden as well as Christina Aguilera and husband Jordan Bratman for both delivering their first borns on January 11th and 12th 2008 at the same hospital, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Nicole's little girl is named Harlow Winter Kate Madden (okay a little long but...) , and Christina's boy is named is Max Liron Bratman (what is a "Liron" I dunno but who cares...the baby is healthy!).

Hillary Clinton on the Tyra Banks show to air this Friday

Female presidential hopeful, Hillary Rodham Clinton taped an episode with the Tyra Banks show recently. The special episode is set to air on Friday. Hillary is trying to smartly get publicity and appeal to female voters and of course Tyra's "followers". I like Hill, but I hope Barack Obama is going to get the win. :)

Anyhow during the Clinton and Banks show interview, the democratic candidate discussed the emotional moment she had with voters on the eve of the New Hampshire primary, her recent comments about Martin Luther King Jr. that helped push the issue of race to the forefront of the campaign against Obama, and tells viewers that if she had to choose a reality show to be on, it would be, Dancing with the Stars over American Idol since she can't sing. She also said that being on America's Top Model, would be something she can only dream about. Oh...so Hillary thinks she can dance? Or is it just that dancing is the lessor of the two evils? Who knows...but she's making press.

Britney Spears' court ruling gives ex Kevin Federline the children "indefinitely".

Yesterday in a Los Angeles courtroom, a court commissioner decided to keep in effect an order that is suspending Britney Spears' right to visit her young boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James. The pop singer showed up late and then didn't even go in the courtroom, but neither her or Kevin were required to attend even though her lawyers strongly advised she do. The children will remain in the custody of her ex-husband, Kevin Federline "indefinitely". This ruling comes after Britney's frantic emotional episode earlier this month where she refused to give the children back to Kevin after her visitation time with them was up. Authorities then called paramedics and they took her on a stretcher to the hospital. She was released about a day later. The next court hearing is for February 19th (isn't that T.I.'s court date??). Now of course the media is in a "Britney is crazy" frenzy. Well actually they have been saying that for the past two years so whatever.

My thoughts are this: She's human and has been where several other women have been before but her issues are public because she is famous and even worse, has money. I do pray that she gets some peace of mind. And honestly even though Kevin seems like a leach, hopefully he's a great father and Britney can focus her energies on being well. I totally would not put up with being a celebrity to have every fool in my business...especially fools that have their own problems to deal with.

You know for all the big talk that T.O. does I have to say that he's very sensitive. And most super confident people have a passionate, softer side underneath all that tough skin, so that's fine. Well i am not here to make fun of him about his recent weeping episode during the press conference after The Dallas Cowboys lost to the New York Giants this past Sunday. He's a Sagittarius like myself so I never hate on my fellow brethren.

Well, there may be no super bowl 2008 for Terrell Owens but there is still love for his team QB, Tony Romo.

He didn't win on project Runway but he's won in the hearts of celebrities like, D. Woods, Queen Latifah, Jagged Edge, 112, Ciara, Lisa Raye and Eva Pigford. Last night at club Opera on Peachtree Rd. in Atlanta, Myke invited a few of his celebrity friends like D. Woods (who has a new season of Making the Band coming to MTV soon), Brian Jordan, Princess (of Crime Mob...cute as a button), Pretty (from VH1's I Love New York 2. And he told me..."Yes the show is real, and yes it was valid for him to get mad at the way New York treated his sister, and no he would not take a woman like New York out in public and, now he is recently signed with a modeling agency) a few Atlanta Falcons as well as other guests out to join him for a spicy fashion show case. K&D or Kitty & Dick...a mixture of male entwined with female and naughty brushed up against nice, is modeled by a group of lovely ladies called, Kitty Litter. The super six model the lingerie and bring more appeal to it by performing. They are chosen to represent Kitty & Dick. My vote is great idea!

When I first heard the name, Kitty Litter I turned my nose up thinking..."How dumb" but by the end of KL's first dance I was on my feet wanting the litter of girlie kitties to continue their erotic stage cat dance. I am a woman but the music mixed with these professional flawless dancers was intoxicating even for an all straight woman like myself. And I sat through several different sets of Kitty Litter performing to the sounds of the DJ (i'd hire dude for a party) that was on fire the entire knight! Or maybe part of my awe was the sponsored Hennessy that they kept serving to the guests all night long. Do try Hennessy and Pomegranate juice mixed...wow...all I gotta say...wow! Thanks Hennessey!

Speaking of purrrrrrrrrrrrrfect performances, Joi performed, looking super glam and Tweet ended the evening with "Oops" performed just like it was several years ago with the onstage kitties feverishly dancing joy into the hearts of every red blooded male in the FULL audience. Yet there was no need for women to feel insecure. I got a sense that these girls are very real, and normal women who have on good make-up and work amazingly well with their choreographer, Victor Jackson. That's not to diminish them but to make them more touchable to the common woman out there who maybe feels she can't compete. Advice: Don't! We all have our talents and dancing is theirs. And that fact left me with the feeling that I had been to the most incredible fashion show EVER...in 2008! Well what do you want me to say? It's only January so give me some time to see how Mychael's competition fares. But yes he put on a fab SHOW...dancing in fashion made it that much more electric.

AK Tha Razor Man (Grand Hustle/PSC) album release party!

This past weekend was a busy one for me, on one of those evenings I had the privilege to attend an album release party for AK Tha Razor Man (Akeem Lawal) in downtown Atlanta. AK is known to be a member of Grand Hustle's PSC and what better time to come out with his hot new album, "My face Card" .And faithful to tha man's moniker, his lyrics will quickly slice you. T.I. is currently recording an album, "Paper Trail" however since he is on house arrest making moves from his home studio (which is pretty nice I can say) he isn't able to tour or make outside appearances that help albums to further explode (although the controversy surrounding his situation alone might blow him up real nice). AK, like other Grand Hustle artists, Dro, Kuntry, Drama, Alphamega and Mac Boney are working hard in the studio because they got something to say, have their man's back and plan to keep Grand Hustle standing strong. I know Tip is pleased he isn't the only Grand Hustler.

The party was scattered with djs, producers, family and friends. It had an intimate kin folk environment to it. I could tell there was real love and respect in the crowd mixed in with a bunch of working, fun, industry folks. I laughed so hard at certain points nervous that the spicy chicken wings I was inhaling might become an uncomfortable part of my esophagus. Shout out to AK's right hand, Lawanda for wonderfully hosting this due affair.

Yeah he's cool. And he's a talented rapper that you need to look out for. Ak's the kind of guy who's down for a real friend. He is genuine and doesn't have an ounce of phony in him. I dig that and you should too with an industry so full of bullISH that can be straight up foul! Check out AK's album, "My Face Card", dropping on 2/12/08. Later I'll let you know where you can get your copy. He is currently recording the 1st video from the album's single, "All we wanna do" that will play on youtube soon. The second single off of the album is "Check my face card". Oh and his 29th birthday is this month too. He's having a huge party at a killer mansion in Dunwoody exactly one week from today...good times via publicist Kim Ellis.

What's in a name? ALOT so "The Juice Report" is the new name of this blog!

The Juice Report

What's in a name? Well I liked the old name, "Public Memoirs of an Entertainment Lush" I had which was previously revised from its original moniker, "Public Memoirs of an Entertainment Whore" (which some people were a little too cut by so I made it "better" and went with the i'm a lush or a drunk theme...eehehee!! aint i cute?!). And not to mention i kinda sortaISH stole that whole theme from Karrine Steffans popular, "Confessions of a Video Vixen" title by putting my own spin on it. BUT I gotta tell you this new name I now have is the perfect fit!

The new name, "The Juice Report" is the perfect fit because of what the blog and website... http://www.findentertainmentnow.com/stand for. The purpose of the blog/website is to: report entertainment news, list events on the calendar, venue listings, give you the scoop on celebrity events I get to attend and cover, fill you in on exclusive interviews I've (and others) had, provide reviews for restaurants, movies, etc., give you access to purchase tickets to events and movies online, create an avenue for business owners to shine and profile, allow you to share your feedback on most of this in the actual blog portion and MORE! So I am reporting the juice...what's up, what's down, what's happening, and what's not! I tell you who, where and what...and if I can, why! I give you places to go, people to see. That is my goal at least. I am still growing and obtaining a camera man and web person to update my site every week so bear with me as I come into this exciting new career...it's a dream come true for me and I'm so glad I get to share the juice with you. I have been to Bones before so when I recently paid the well known restaurant a return visit I was excited and filled with a sense of distant familiar. Nothing of a "bandwagoner" I say what I mean and mean what I say upon reviews based on true experience regardless of the status quo. And again it had been a while since I stepped ground into Bones but one who has dined in such exquisiteness will not quickly forget the wonderful meal that once filled the tummy and tempted the mouth for more.

Well nothing had changed. Nope. And probably not since the dining house opening in 1979. Upon my third visit at this fine Atlanta establishment I saw that Bones still had the old classic style. Like your grandfather's study or envision a private college rugby team's honorable awards dinner at the old headmasters estate. If you have an imagination you can see what I see now. The rooms are filled with dark comfortable browns, sturdy wood, reds, worn yet still fabulous carpets, and oil paintings that line proudly above the white linen dressed dining tables. The theme is old money. Even the lavatory facilities are styled and sturdy with full, private doors on each stall. I know it's rude to talk about restrooms, even clean ones like these and food at the same time but I'm sticking with giving you a visual view of the restaurant in this paragraph so bear with me!

Bring your heaviest wallet or daddy's wallet but bring one with knowledge that you will spend but that the spending will be worth every single delicious bite of the favored cut of fillet mignon you may choose to be served to you! And served you will be. The meals are served to perfection from a large menu including an extensive wine list from the BEST wait staff i have EVER countered in Atlanta. Polite, prissy professional without being too stiff. Our waiter wasn't quite as fast as i'd wished that night however not only does good food take time but I watched all the wait staff around me that night and collectively they were astounding in their service! Even the complimentary valet, please tip them (if it is raining they give you an umbrella!) is on top of their game.

Appetizing- Try the cold shrimp appetizer or the house or cesar salad. The shrimp is large and plump and both salad and seafood are fresh.

The best sides and veggies- You must try the spinach, asparagus, mushrooms, hash browns (OMG!!!!) and mashed potatoes...yes all of them!

The best dessert- Just about all of it is good...trust me we ordered almost everything. The only thing that disappoints is the cheesecake, which is more reminiscent of a huge molded milk wad with cream and powdered sugar accompanied by pretty fruit compost as if the fruit is supposed to make up for the lack in bland flavor. Uhmmm...No!

Great tables- We didn't have a private room for our party of 8 as I have before however the experience and view were still wonderful in this large restaurant.

Great space- again the place is huge and has two levels...2.5 if you count the slightly elevated bar area.

Good things come to those who wait yes you wait a while for your t-bone, fillet mignon (the taste is perfect!), veal, lamb (oh yum...it was good!) but u wait a while in a high class primarily steak and seafood restaurant. And trust me I am not a red meat fanatic BUT i'm willing to cheat every once in a year for the tastesation that is Bones. This is not a place that serves you just bones, no the opposite...your plate will be stacked from this non fru fru menu. Of course we know that Bones was named for the fact that it is a red meat house and some of the cuts of meat have bones right? Well anything sounds good to me as long as they keep that high standard that has kept them best rated for 20 years.

I'm so elated that I get to cover the trumpet awards this weekend. It is a star studded event (with a full schedule of different activities) weekend taking place in Atlanta. This is the 3rd year the annual awards since 1993 is going to be broadcast.

For those of you who don't know The Trumpet Awards honors African-American achievements in diverse fields including law, business, politics, medicine and entertainment (celebrities). “The Trumpet Awards is more than glamour and glitz, even though we look forward to the atmosphere that adds to the occasion,” said Xernona Clayton, founder and executive producer of the Trumpets. “The Trumpet Awards send a message across America and abroad, especially to young students, that African Americans are doing things second to none and have much to be proud of.”

Jay-Z speaks about he and Beyonce's upcoming marriage

During his new year celebration the "hustler baby" finally talks to someone about his upcoming wedding to the love of his entertainment life, Beyonce. According to Vegas Luxe Life with Robin Leach this what Jay had to say:

“A wedding will be sooner rather than later, though,” he told me, “but it will be kept a private serious celebration for our very closest family and friends. When it does happen, we’ll keep it very quiet. When we read these news reports about hiding tattoos under wedding rings, we laughed together and said, ‘uh huh, another wild one—put it with the other 80,000.’”

Young (well not anymore) Hov also laughed off previous Paris and Vegas wedding rumors.

Well I guess it is time they get married huh? They have been through some stuff, rumors, drama and have stood strong. I am happy they are going to soon be married if that is what they wish. Why not? They fit well together and know how to closely guard their relationship. Wise.

He made it rain (yes he threw out thousands of dollars into the crowd), he gave out bottles of champagne, he talked ish while he paraded on the stage, he tried to pay dancing hopefuls (girls of course) $1,000 for a shake 'em dance contest but the contest never took place, but mostly he just smiled and cheesed the entire night as women relentlessly flocked him like he was a new diamond encrusted Prada bag left unattended. Welcome to the world of Floyd "Money" Mayweather! He tore up club Dreamz on Saturday night celebrating his latest boxing win against Ricky Hatton.

The money man who gained a reported $11 million from his latest brawl may stand 5 foot 4 on a good day, and have an old man's name but he's got a very young, magnetic and vibrant spirit. You can tell he would be a kick A** friend to have. Club Dreams is a HUGE spot, with three VIP areas in Atlanta located on Clairmont Rd. off of 85. They had Lil Kim and Gucci Mane the weekend before so check them out. Thanks to Dante of Lotus Lounge for putting us on the list and AK the Razor Man from Grand Hustle for getting me in VIP. AK's got a new video coming out yall. Look out for this HOT hustler! Other people that came through that night were: Jason Jeter, Alphamega, Shay "Buckey" Johnson, Bobby Valentino and Cedric the Entertainer. Anyway these are pictures i got of the party and Floyd that night...he was so much fun and very nice, a little spacey, but very nice. I was feverishly bored to tears the entire night until i got to meet Floyd, get some pics and then my camera went out like the damn luck that i have so i left...it was 4:15 in the morning yall so I was happy to go. Anyway I say all that to say I was bored and tired until I met the boxing champ who's infectious spirit helped to pick up my drained body a bit. Go Floyd...the best trash talker in boxing...EVER!

Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds start off the New Year with an "I Do"!

They knew what they wanted and didn't waste time before they tied the knot. Congrats to Eddie and Tracey who got married yesterday on a private island off Bora Bora on New Years Day! They were joined by 25 friends and family. Simple yet exotic. great.
